My best friend and I had competed locally and in Florida in the jumper ring for about five or six years, riding “unconventional horses”. By unconventional horses, we were riding an American Saddlebred (who was half starved to death when purchased), an Anglo-Arab (who was bought as a weanling as a fescue toxicity baby from Auburn University), and a very opinionated Appaloosa mare (bought from a last chance type of horse auction).

Riding among Warmbloods, TB’s, Oldenburg’s, Holsteiners, and the like, we would get more than our fair share of double takes. But more times than not, we would walk away in the ribbons! I guess you can say we always have held the underdogs close to our hearts. We loved the horses we were riding and believed in them and them in us.

A Mom's Tale Print E-mail

Funny, Isn't it. You wait your whole life for this moment. As a friend, I am a great Cheerleader, I can give my friends that extra boost to get them through that crunch moment, I can put my arms around them and tell them that everything is going to be all right in the end. As a friend, I can look my buddies in the eyes and tell them that of which they all ready know. " Look what you can do", "See", You are awesome, look at you. I am a good friend because I mean every word of it. But then you become a mother. Your heart stops beating as you hold your breath and tears fill your eyes as the judge says " Rider, you have two minutes."

You look up into your daughters eyes and at that moment you realize that she is so small but so brave. "Rider , you have one minute." Then you look at this amazing beast she is sitting on. " please be a good boy." you say. "Rider, you have 20 seconds." Then I look up into her eyes again and she looks down at me.." 10..9..8 you hear”... “Have a good ride baby" " 7..6..5.." As she walks into the start box...." I will." she says, "4..3..2..1..Go."

Almost for Team Cherry Print E-mail

Heather Lindell continues the trials and tribulations of competitive Eventing with her trusty 25yr old Images's Cherokee and here gives an insight into every day challenges this sport often presents, sometimes when you least expect them. Heathers terrific outlook and approach to the sport is not unlike many Eventers, we are a fool hardy bunch, but we do have fun.

Eventing people are some of the most dedicated people around. A good example of their efforts was demonstrated at the Pine Mountain Horse Trial the weekend of April 8-9, 2006. Dressage and Cross Country were scheduled for Saturday and Stadium was scheduled for Sunday. Well, that didn’t exactly happen, please read about my weekend.

Full Gallop Inaugural USEA Event Print E-mail
Friday, 24 February 2006
On February 15th 2006 Full Gallop Farm SC hosted its inaugural USEA Event. With some top ranked riders like Phillip Dutton entered it was certainly looking like a successful event. But as we know success comes in many forms and we are lucky enough to hear about the event courtesy of Liz Heiden aboard Poetic Justice from Auburn Georgia.

Neither Punxsutawney Phil’s bleak winter outlook nor a fractured elbow could keep this competitor and her steady steed from competing in the first USEA recognized event at Full Gallop Farm. After an uneventful early morning drive, we pulled into the farm. There, we were greeted by the first of many friendly and helpful volunteers. Once my mare was settled I ambled off to check in and check things out. The show office was easily found and signing in was equally simple. It was then off to do two quick walks of cross country before getting ready for dressage. On the return walk back to the trailer I had to pause for a moment to watch the top two riders in the nation last year (Phillip Dutton and Kim Severson) jump clean stadium rounds. OK now that I had a visual image of how it was done it was off to tack up for dressage.

Team Cherry take on Pine Top Print E-mail
Wednesday, 15 February 2006

Heather Lindell teamed with Image's Cherokee for a 6th place at the recent Pine Top Winter Horse Trials on February 4th & 5th. Anyone there probably remembers the weather firstly. Though as you might recall and you can read below every cloud has a silver lining, its not always about what color ribbon you take home, if you do at all.

Team Cherry at Pine Top Farm February 2006

Team Cherry improved their ride from the last horse trial at Pine Top. Saturday started with dressage in the morning. Actually, the morning started with a bit of a monsoon that thankfully passed. It put the dressage rides about an hour behind and brought a very chilly wind.
