Pine Top HT endures the wettest ever Print E-mail
Sunday, 30 November 2008

Well the rain cometh and the rain stayeth! Pine Top's Thanksgiving weekend Horse Trials are over after one of the wettest weekends encountered at the Thomson GA facility. The CC competition got underway an hour later than planned as officials wisely allowed the brunt of the storm to roll though and dump several more inches of rain on the already soaked grounds. Despite many of the Open Prelim riders deciding not to go around the event went ahead with barely an incident. The ground was soft in places but always true.

Mary Bess Sigman along with all riders in the OP division drew some time penalties but held on to win with a final score of 41.7 on Guinness X. In second place was Rachel Jurgens on Ziggy with a final score of 51.2

In Prelim Horse Mike Winter finished 1-2 with his rides. Raku taking the first ribbon on his dressage score of 25.0 for Mike ahead of his other mount Playstation with Donna Miller coming in third place on ArdCeltic Art. In Prelim JR YR Lizzie Snow lead from go to whoa but not after having to endure some nervous moments on the CC course accumulating 10.4 time penalties and a final score of 37.5

In the end a dreary weekend weather wise but a great effort by the officials and riders to stick it out and get it done. A few words owner Glenn Wilson mentions in the full results below.
