Red Hills HT to change |

In a shock announcement it appears the Red Hill Horse Trials each
year in March will have some distinct changes in 2007. The current
executive committee and board of directors recently voted to cancel
future shows after the completion of this years event on March 10-12th.
This decision was soon after requested to be rescinded when local
resident Colin Phipps stepped in with a promise to try and keep it
going.
The committee and board decision comes after the announcement of
event founders and co-organizers Sallie Ausley and Sylvia Ochs decided
to retire from the event citing family and personal reasons. The event
has grown to be one of the nine elite events in the USA over the past
eight years where competitors could qualify for the World Cup. Speaking
to the Tallahassee Democrat recently Phipps said ''I came to the
conclusion that it was a good event for Tallahassee. If we didn't save
it, we would've come to a point where it would be practically
impossible to get another event going in Tallahassee. I'm pretty sure
good people will make it happen again.'' The event has attracted
competitors from Georgia for many years and from all around the USA and
overseas. To see it gone forever we are sure will be huge shock to
everyone in Eventing. As mentioned currently the Red Hill Horse Trials
has World Cup status and whether this status remains after the 2006
event appears doubtful. The event also has been able to attract
many major sponsors and this year that is no exception with prizes
valued at $30,000 being offered over the three day event. The Red Hills
Horse Trials is located in Tallahassee FL and will have in 2006 CIC-W
*** and CIC**; Advanced, Intermediate, and Preliminary divisions. More
information on this years event can be found by visiting their website,
