Poplar Place Horse Trials in the Georgia snow
Saturday, 19 January 2008

Before this week you would have laughed at the notion, but never underestimate mother nature and her ability to throw curve balls. The first show of the year brought hopeful competitors looking to get that jump ahead and start the year on a positive note. Not many though expected the severe wintry conditions which would test not only the riders but everyone else coming through the gate. Snow fell in most parts on Nth Georgia and rain and sleet everywhere else.

And the weekend is far from over yet.

Heather Morris in Open Prelim had two solid rides to lead after Dressage on Genial & Tawney. In Open Prelim Angela Grzywinski on Novelle leads a smaller field after Stadium on 39.5. Mike Huber on Lightning Bound leads Open Training after Stadium and in Training Rider the leader is Amy Boyle on Peterbilt II going clear on stadium and leads by a handy 10 points with just Cross Country remaining.

Danielle Ditching leads also in Junior Training on Tops with a 34.5
